A San Antonio father faces severe charges after authorities say he admitted to inflicting multiple, serious injuries on his 4-month-old child. 19-year-old Daniel Efrain Aguilera is charged with four counts of injury to a child after the infant was found to have sustained fractures to the legs, ribs, clavicle, and skull, according to KSAT. Police indicated that the injuries were sustained over a period and were at various stages of healing. Aguilera and the mother initially brought their child to a hospital on Dec. 13, citing a skull fracture and rib fractures as the result of a fall.
The initial account provided by Aguilera claimed an accidental injury. He told hospital staff that he had tripped over a blanket while holding the baby, which led to the baby's injuries. Despite his explanation, medical professionals were compelled to contact law enforcement, which is standard practice in such scenarios. Following this, on Dec. 20, an examination by the Center for Miracles uncovered additional injuries, which included fractures in both tibias and a clavicle fracture, as reported by KENS5.
Upon further questioning by Child Protective Services, Aguilera admitted to causing the injuries on several occasions, according to officials. He disclosed that he bent the baby's legs backward, squeezed them, and on one instance, when the infant wouldn't cease crying, squeezed him tightly until a "pop" was heard, which silenced the cries.
Additional troubling details emerged when Aguilera confessed to striking the child in the back of the head multiple times out of frustration, caused by the baby's persistent crying, according to evidence in the affidavit. It was only after noticing a bump on the child's head that he took the infant to the hospital. T
