A high-speed pursuit of purloined wheels concluded with a bang on the southeast side of San Antonio, leaving a trail of shattered metal and charges against four suspects, one of whom was a mere child. The chase, teeth-clenching in its intensity, was led by deputies from the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, who trailed the stolen Hyundai until it met its ill-fated end at the intersection of Goliad Road and Indian Hills Drive near Brooks City Base just before the clock struck noon Friday, KENS 5 reported.
The hot pursuit initiated on Interstate 37, with the suspects' journey shearing through a back parking lot on SE Military Drive at Goliad Road, leading to their collision, not just with a civilian's ride but also ramming head-on into destiny in the bumper of a county undercover unit. According to the FOX San Antonio coverage, all four occupants of the stolen Hyundai scattered after the crash, intent on escaping, but the long arm of the law proved longer still, reaching out to pluck them back from liberty's threshold.
Authorities reported that among the quartet of suspects was a 12-year-old who sustained minor injuries in the chaos of steel and speed. After careening through a parking lot, the vehicle slammed into the anonymous faces of the day's routine at the intersection, in such a routine day for the faces involved. A family's vehicle and a San Antonio Police vehicle also bore the brunt of the stolen vehicle's reckless flight before it came to rest against a Bexar County undercover car.
All four suspects now face charges of evading arrest, theft, and possession of a gun found inside the wrecked vehicle. While their identities remain under wraps, their actions speak a cacophony of crime and desperation, the symphony of which was administered at a local hospital, where the underage suspect was treated for the minor scratches and bruises earned in the pursuit. No other injuries were reported in the series of impacts that unfolded during the incident.
