A deadly confrontation between a landlord and a tenant on the North Side of San Antonio ended with the tenant losing his life, according to officials. The face-off took place just after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday in the 1000 block of W. Huisache Avenue, KSAT reported. Tensions escalated when both men, armed and disputing, pointed guns at each other.

During the argument that followed, the landlord fired multiple shots, striking the tenant in the head, according to the San Antonio police. After being rushed to the hospital, the man was pronounced dead, having been hit by the gunfire several times. Both of the guns involved were recovered at the scene, and police now have the landlord in custody as they probe if the shooting could be justified as self-defense, Fox San Antonio added.

Authorities have not disclosed what triggered the fatal encounter, and the investigation is ongoing. The identity of the deceased has not been released as of now, pending notification of the next of kin.

No further injuries were reported in connection with the shooting. The landlord, who found the tenant arguing outside the house, is said to be cooperating with investigators. There has been no indication yet if he will face any charges as they continue to piece together the events that led up to the deadly dispute.
