A tragic episode unfolded in San Antonio as a woman lost her life after her ex-boyfriend opened fire during a confrontation at his apartment, local authorities said. Ryan Walser, 27, has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night at the Prose Westover Hills apartments. According to KSAT, the 25-year-old woman, whose identity has not been disclosed by police, was shot multiple times by Walser during a dispute involving Walser's new girlfriend.
The woman reportedly visited the apartment on Vista West Drive, to collect her belongings when the violent altercation broke out. Walser, attempting, to intervene in the fight between his ex and current girlfriend, fired several shots striking the victim multiple times. The San Antonio Police Department informed that the victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Further investigation into the incident is underway, as stated by authorities. Both Walser and his new girlfriend were initially detained for questioning following the incident. Although the details surrounding the motive and circumstances of the altercation remain under investigation, FOX San Antonio reported that Walser claimed he shot his ex in an attempt "to keep the ex-girlfriend from beating up his current girlfriend."
This act of violence has added to the city's growing concerns over domestic disputes turning deadly. The shooting, which took place shortly after 10:30 p.m., adds to a series of recent incidents highlighting the potential dangers of intimate partner conflict.
