Yesterday, a San Antonio woman was killed in what police are describing as a domestic dispute turned fatal when the victim, a woman in her 60s, was stabbed to death by her husband in their Southeast Side home, according to a report by KENS 5.
It was just before 11 p.m. When authorities were dispatched to a residence on the 200 block of Channing Street, nestled between S. Gevers Street and S. New Braunfels Avenue, upon arrival, officers encountered the aftermath of what appeared to be a violent altercation between the couple. While the motive behind the attack remains under investigation, the San Antonio Police Department indicated to FOX San Antonio that there had been an argument leading up to the fatal stabbing. After attacking his wife, the husband attempted suicide by slitting his wrists but failed to end his own life.
The unnamed woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband, also in his 60s, was transported to a local hospital as a result of his self-inflicted wounds. Detailing the husband's condition while fighting for his life, a sergeant at the scene described the bloody ordeal as an "attempted murder-suicide," as a statement given to KENS 5. The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to piece together the events that led to the violent encounter.
