A 19-year-old San Antonio teen, Joe-Isaac Lee Yanez, is facing a slew of charges after a string of shootings that left a woman dead and others injured, according to local authorities. Yanez is charged in connection with the shooting death of 22-year-old Khadija Derry, who was killed while sitting in her car outside a Converse home last week, on December 7.

Official reports detail the fatal event, stating that two individuals approached Derry's car and fired an estimated 20 rounds, as FOX San Antonio obtained exclusive surveillance video of the incident. The barrage left Derry deceased at the scene, among scattered 9 mm and 5.56-caliber shell casings, indicating the use of two weapons.

In an unrelated case, Yanez is also accused of engaging in a drive-by shooting that injured a 19-year-old man and endangered a baby. On the same day as Derry's murder, the young man was shot while waiting to pick up his girlfriend from work. "About 28 rounds were fired at the vehicle," SAN Antonio police stated, though luckily the baby was unharmed, reports KSAT. A female employee in the vicinity suffered minor injuries from shattered glass.

Investigations led to the discovery of several incriminating items at an apartment where Yanez resides. These findings included rounds matching those used in the shooting as well as stolen firearms—a 9 mm pistol with a conversion switch attached and a .22-caliber revolver. Further, an Instagram video seemed to link Yanez to the crime scene, featuring cryptic spoken words: "Hold my switch my n@#$%!" as reported by KSAT. The attack appears to be related to threats made to the Derry family, per statements the victim's younger sister received earlier on the day of the shooting.

In a separate standoff with authorities, Yanez was apprehended on Sunday night after a car chase and standoff with Texas DPS, leading to his and two accomplices' detention. As of this writing, charges lodged against Yanez include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct, two counts of theft of a firearm, and other related offenses.
