A San Bernardino man was cuffed on Monday after allegedly being found with a stash of guns and drugs while under investigation for child abuse. Deputies entered Marcus Newmann's home and stumbled upon a variety of illicit items, including psilocybin mushrooms and a loaded gun within reach of two young kids.

Authorities were called to the 4000 block of Lorraine Drive to investigate a report of child endangerment, leading to the discovery of drugs and weapons laid bare for children to find, with Newmann bolting out the back door. Quickly apprehended, the 33-year-old now faces several charges, including child endangerment and possession of controlled substances for sale, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department statement. Newmann's bail was set at a steep $120,000.00.

"During the investigation, Cannon and Price discovered the suspect, Marcus Newmann, had fled the incident location out of the back door as deputies arrived on the scene," detailed the Sheriff’s report. Newmann was caught and hauled off to jail for a slew of offenses, including being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance while armed.
