The grand ribbon-cutting of the Dianne Jacob Lakeside Equestrian Park saw over 400 enthusiasts gather Sunday for a bit of fanfare that included family activities and an arena show, reported County News Center. The performers, clearly not horsing around, exhibited a range of equestrian skills from dressage to jumping and reigning that aimed to impress.

Named after Dianne Jacob, a former County Supervisor who served for 28 years, the park symbolizes her commitment to enhancing community recreation spaces. According to Brian Albright, the County Parks Director, Dianne has been a fierce advocate "for parks and recreation – and for any program that engages families, especially youth, in healthy activities," Albright told County News Center. It’s a long time coming for the park plans, which began to quickly canter forward starting construction in 2020 and finally came to fruition.

The nearly 14-acre park is decked out with a covered arena, open arena, and livestock corrals, along with the necessary amenities like a maintenance building, restrooms, and a banquet hall for those post-ride soirees. It's not just for show; the park is ready to host a mix of equestrian and livestock events, with Jacob boasting to County News Center that it is "one-of-a-kind and it’s going to bring in events from all over the state of California." "This is going to put Lakeside on the map," she added, touting the park's potential to spur local tourism and excitement.

Conveniently set at the northeast corner of Moreno Avenue and Willow Road, locals and visitors can easily find this equestrian haven. As for the day-use park at the south end of Moreno Avenue, it's to be opened to the public for daily enjoyment from sunrise to sunset once they figure out to completely staff the operation. Details are also forthcoming on accessing other parts of the park for special events.
