San Jacinto law enforcement officers apprehended a 35-year-old man following the discovery of an illicit indoor marijuana farm. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff's Station Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant on December 15th, 2023, at a residence on the 1200 block of Washington Avenue in San Jacinto, unearthing a sizable haul of drugs and firearms. The subject, identified as Jonathan Crowell, was taken into custody without resistance.
According to details released by the Sheriff's Department, the search revealed a grow operation including 135 marijuana plants and over two pounds of processed marijuana. Adding to the cache, authorities found Hashish, Psilocybin mushrooms, and a set of five firearms—one of which was an unregistered .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol. The items seized suggest Crowell was not just cultivating but also partaking in the sale of narcotics.
Beyond the drug-related offenses, Crowell faces charges related to utility theft. Investigators uncovered that the operation was powered by electricity stolen from Southern California Edison, inflating the list of allegations against him. Following the raid, Crowell was booked into the Smith Correctional Facility on various narcotics and weapon-related offenses, including the theft of electricity.
The Sheriff's Department regards the case as open and ongoing, urging anyone with further information to come forward and assist. For those privy to additional details that could aid this investigation, officials have directed them to contact Deputy Pena of the San Jacinto Sheriff's Station. Crowell's arraignment details have not yet been released. The full details of the sheriff's report can be found on the Riverside County Sheriff's Department website.
