A tragedy struck a San Jose family last month when an altercation turned deadly, leading to the city's 32nd homicide of the year. On November 13, police were summoned to a home on Lester Avenue due to a family disturbance, where they found a man unconscious after reportedly being assaulted by his daughter's boyfriend, a statement from the San Jose Police Department confirmed.
The victim received immediate medical attention and was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries that seemed to stabilize at first. However, his condition deteriorated, and on December 7, he died from his injuries. The same day, the coroner’s office declared the death a homicide and launched an investigation, resulting in an arrest warrant for the daughter’s boyfriend, who was initially arrested but not held for the assault.
The San Jose Police Department's Homicide Unit, in collaboration with Family Violence Unit Detectives, took over the investigation and moved quickly to bring the suspect to justice. The suspect, whose identity has not been publicly released, was subsequently located and arrested by the department's MERGE Unit on December 7, immediately booking him into the Santa Clara County Jail in connection with the homicide warrant.
The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to reach out to Detective Sergeant Varela or Detective Montoya of San José’s Homicide Unit, making it known that tips can be submitted anonymously via the P3TIPS mobile app, the tip line, or the Crime Stoppers website and may be eligible for a cash reward, as told by the San José Police Department.
