The Irvine Police Department has apprehended a 60-year-old registered sex offender on charges of committing lewd acts with a 13-year-old girl, officials said. Enrique Flores Martinez, a Santa Ana resident, was taken into custody following a complaint from a young girl at an Irvine middle school.
According to IrvinePD's Facebook post, the incident came to light on Monday, December 18, when a School Resource Officer received a report from a 7th grader. Allegations indicate that Martinez, familiar to the victim, had inappropriately touched her several times. The first couple of incidents were said to have happened in 2021 in Irvine, while another took place in Santa Ana in the summer of 2023. The most recent encounter reportedly occurred on December 17, in Irvine.
Martinez was located and arrested without incident at a post office in Santa Ana. He was subsequently booked at the Orange County Jail on charges of performing lewd acts with a minor under the age of 14.
