It's been a year since the road rage incident on the South Side turned tragic, and a second man has finally been charged. Alberto Aguirre, 21, was arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of Ines Quiroga, who was killed on Dec. 15, 2022, KSAT reports. Authorities detailed that an altercation between Quiroga, 49, and the occupants of two vehicles, led to the fatal shooting, after which, the suspects fled.

According to court records, a grand jury indicted Aguirre in October, asserting that he intentionally played a part in Quiroga's death on Lebanon Street. His accomplice, 21-year-old Joe Longoria, was also charged in connection with the fatality. Quiroga's encounter with death began with a simple honk of the horn when he was blocked by the suspect's Dodge Challenger and another vehicle. The situation rapidly escalated when Quiroga attempted to address the matter, leading to Longoria allegedly shooting him upon exiting the passenger side of the Challenger, and driving off, even as the vehicle grazed Quiroga's, knocking off a side mirror which would later contribute to the identification of the suspect's vehicle.

Quiroga's daughter, Joann Quiroga who witnessed the horrifying event, recounted her father's final moments to KSAT, stating, "They stopped in the middle of the road to talk and then my dad was behind the Challenger. He was honking for them to move." She saw the argument ensue, and after the fatal shot was fired, she said, "I heard a gunshot. I opened my door and then the Challenger sped off."

The black Challenger with distinct matte stripes and a loud exhaust, missing its driver side mirror, became key pieces of evidence, first revealed in surveillance footage obtained after the incident which showed the vehicle arriving at a nearby home, and its occupants seemingly hiding objects as they ran inside. The arrest warrant affidavit for Longoria notes that another video showed him and other individuals manipulating an object in the car, moments before Quiroga was killed. San Antonio police attributed the break in the case to a tip which divulged the suspects' identities, and their address, according to KSAT.
