Gunfire erupted at an East Side strip mall, bullets flew around 1:30 p.m. near the shopping oasis on St. James Street by East Houston Street, with authorities investigating the incident, as reported by FOX San Antonio.
Minutes later, shots reportedly rang out near a bustling H-E-B grocery store—from the initial crime scene at approximately 1:50 p.m., according to KENS 5. The store shuttered its doors for several hours at the command of the San Antonio Police Department.
The H-E-B officials were quick to clarify the circumstances surrounding their store, saying the gunfire did not take place within the store itself but rather adjacent to it. While details from the San Antonio Police Department were scarce, the discord and disruption of the day were evident in the empty parking lots and the patrol cars dotting the landscape.
Authorities have yet to release information on potential suspects or a confirmed number of injuries.
