Two South Boston locals faced cuffs after cops caught them red-handed burglarizing the Old St. Vincent's Church late Wednesday night. Michael Donovan, 37, and Brendan Delaney, 50, were busted with bags of copper wire and burglary tools just minutes before midnight, the Boston Police Department reported.
The duo reportedly made their way into the holy establishment at 363 E St by a side entrance. A vigilant witness tipped off the authorities, ensuring the police were on the scene. The officers, hailing from District C-6, set up shop around the church, ready to catch the burglars as they left from the same side door with their ill-gotten gains.
According to the Boston police, Donovan and Delaney had their bags searched, which revealed a collection of hand tools and numerous pieces of copper wire thought to have been pilfered from the church's inner sanctum. The suspects were promptly arrested and slapped with charges including Possession of Burglarious Instruments & Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime. They're set to face their sentence at South Boston District Court.
