Stoked Pizza Company sets its sights on a new location, the legendary space that once housed Doyle's Cafe in Jamaica Plain. Established in 1882, Doyle's was a local institution until its closure in 2019. Now, according to a Boston Restaurants Blog post, the acclaimed pizzeria chain could be bringing its famed wood-fired pies to this storied address.
Evidence of Stoked Pizza Company's intentions, well-known for locations in Brookline and Cambridge, surfaced in a notice for an upcoming virtual meeting by the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council Public Service Committee, slated for January 2 to discuss the proposal. In tandem, a newly minted LLC dubbed "Stoked Pizza JP" has popped up on Bizapedia, pointing to an expansion firmly in the works. Toirm Miller, one of the owners of Stoked, has also been mentioned in the meeting notice, indicating his involvement in the potential new branch.
Critics and foodies alike have heaped praise on Stoked for its culinary creations, with accolades pouring in from respected outlets such as Zagat and Eater Boston. The buzz generated by the possibility of their take on pizza gracing the location where countless Bostonians have dined and unwound adds an extra layer of anticipation to the upcoming community meeting.
While Stoked Pizza appears poised for another success, it's worth noting that in 2020, there were whispers about Brassica Kitchen + Cafe—another culinary heavyweight in Jamaica Plain—eyeing the former Doyle's space. Although those plans remain un-updated, the team behind Brassica was recently in the news for expanding into the adjacent spot once occupied by the Dogwood Cafe, as mentioned by the Stoked Pizza website.
The location of the former Doyle's (and the intended site for Stoked Pizza Company) can be found at 3484 Washington Street, Jamaica Plain, MA, 02130.
