Houstonians are gearing up for a workweek of mild weather, but they should keep an eye on the sky by the weekend as things might get rough. Tuesday kicked off with a beautiful sunny forecast, as daytime temperatures rose to a comfortable 70 degrees, accompanied by a light breeze, reports Click2Houston. The evening will cool down, but the city is looking forward to several days of clear skies and crisp mornings with temperatures dropping into the 40s through Thursday.
Vestiges of autumn linger, inviting sweaters and jackets for the morning chill, while afternoons call for lighter attire. "You’ll love it!" claims Click2Houston, pointing to the cold mornings and cool afternoons that define the forecast through Thursday. But Houston residents should not get too comfortable. A change is looming on the horizon.
As reported by KHOU, the high pressure that's been blessing the city with its current weather will shift come Friday, giving way to increased moisture and warmer temperatures. This shift will precede what could be a stormy Saturday as a cold front makes its way into the area.
Moving into the weekend, Houston residents should brace for potential severe weather. "We have a severe weather threat as the front moves in but it is highly dependent on what time it moves in," states Click2Houston. If the front sweeps through in the morning, the risk for severe storms lessens, but the afternoon arrival could mean tornadoes, wind damage, and large hail are possible; hence, timing is key. There's a chance of rain on Friday, but Saturday's forecast calls for thunderstorms and a consequent cool-down on Sunday.
While the week may start with sunshine and dry air, those in Houston should keep their rain gear handy for the tumultuous turn expected by the week's end. Moreover, after the showers on Saturday and a cooling front knocking temperatures back down, the city should anticipate lows in the 40s and highs meandering between the 50s and 60s, according to KHOU.
