The incident unfolded on Wednesday night when the suspects, targeting a residence in the 7000 block of Forbes Avenue, startled a house-sitter by breaching a rear bedroom window.
The startled victim recounted to police that the intruders declared they were LAPD. Moments after they intruded, they absconded with her purse, as the house-sitter disclosed to police, with no immediate arrests to follow early Thursday. The abrupt entry and swift theft left residents on edge, but fortunately, no physical harm was reported.
Matching accounts emerged from KTLA, where the break-in is said to have occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m., with the perpetrators forcing their way through a back door window.
