In a daring impersonation of law enforcement, three burglars proclaimed themselves as officers of the Los Angeles Police Department during a home invasion in the Lake Balboa neighborhood, as reported by NBC Los Angeles. The incident unfolded on Wednesday night when the suspects, targeting a residence in the 7000 block of Forbes Avenue, startled a house-sitter by breaching a rear bedroom window.
The startled victim recounted to police that the intruders declared they were LAPD. Moments after they intruded, they absconded with her purse, as the house-sitter disclosed to police, with no immediate arrests to follow early Thursday. The abrupt entry and swift theft left residents on edge, but fortunately, no physical harm was reported.
Matching accounts emerged from KTLA, where the break-in is said to have occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m., with the perpetrators forcing their way through a back door window.
The descriptions of the suspects remain vague, with all three described as males donning black hoodies and dark clothing, leaving the community to wonder about the identities of these misleading marauders.
