
A male juvenile was fatally shot and a man was wounded on a Compton street during what officials believe was a physical altercation that escalated, leading to gunfire.
Responding to a call on Tuesday evening, deputies from the Compton Sheriff’s Station found that the 16-year-old victim had already been rushed to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his upper torso, where he was pronounced dead, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported, and as the investigation unfolds a male adult was also discovered at the scene, who had been shot and transported with non-life threatening injuries.
The shooting occurred roughly around 5:25 PM on the 700 block of West Corregidor Street, and based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe the victims were involved in an altercation when the suspect, identified as a male Hispanic Juvenile opened fire according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department release.
Details on the suspect and the circumstances of the incident remain scant as the investigation presses forward, and authorities have yet to release any further information regarding a potential motive or the events leading up to the shooting. Officials are urging anyone who might have information on the tragic incident to step forward and assist in what is a developing story that adds to the tapestry of violence.
