The state of Texas is on alert following the disappearance of an 18-year-old pregnant woman, Savanah Soto, who was last observed on December 22 in Leon Valley. A CLEAR Alert, signaling a significant urgency in locating missing adults at immediate risk, has been activated due to concerns for her and her unborn child's safety.
As per the Texas Department of Public Safety, the CLEAR Alert, which stands for Coordinated Law Enforcement Adult Rescue, comes in response to Soto’s absence from a critical medical appointment intended to induce labor. The Leon Valley Police Department has since been spearheading the search operation, according to KSAT. At a height of 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 115 pounds, Soto has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen driving a 2013 grey Kia Optima, distinguished by a temporary tag number 4289D57.
Mobilizing through the anguish of the holiday season, Soto’s family organized a search on Christmas night, emanating from the Valencia Lofts apartment complex in Leon Valley where she had initially gone missing. Family and friends closely combed the nearby vicinity in hopes of any sign of the expecting teenager, KENS 5 reported. After over a week past her due date, Soto’s absence raised red flags that led to the CLEAR Alert issuance.
"We love her, we miss her, whatever is going on let her come home so we can have a Merry Christmas with her," her grandmother, Rachel Soto, poignantly expressed in a statement obtained by KENS 5. The family also shared their concerns about being unable to contact Soto's boyfriend, the father of her unborn child. "It's not normal, something's not adding up here," her grandmother added. The nursery was ready, the baby's name was chosen, and the excitement of impending motherhood was palpable before Soto vanished.
The Leon Valley Police had attempted to access Soto’s apartment on Monday evening but failed to gain entry. Nevertheless, they stayed on the scene to gather information and support the distraught family.
