A tragedy struck the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta Saturday evening. Leaving three young individuals dead and another wounded in a shooting incident tied to drug activity, as reported by ANF. The violence erupted inside an apartment at 3005 Buckhead Apartments around 6:25 p.m., where the victims, all in their 20s, were found by law enforcement officers.
According to Maj. Peter Malecki of the Atlanta Police Department, in a statement obtained by WITN, "This wasn’t like a home invasion type of scenario. We believe that the perpetrators were invited in for that drug exchange. It was some type of drug transaction that was taking place inside the apartment." Initial investigations suggest an exchange darkened by ill-fated choices, with the apartment on the 11th floor becoming a crime scene.
Emergency responders declared three individuals dead at the scene, and one surviving victim was rushed to a local hospital, as detailed by WITN. Police recovered a couple of handguns at the scene, as said by Malecki, which are undergoing ballistics testing to discern their role in the fatal shooting.
As of now, the police are keeping the identities of the involved parties confidential. Alluding to the instruments of violence found on the scene, "We did recover a couple of handguns on the scene, but again, we still have testing to do to see which weapons were involved in what part," Maj. Peter Malecki told WITN.
