STURBRIDGE, Massachusetts — In a swift capture aided by technology, three men have been busted for pickpocketing a diner's wallet at the Cracker Barrel on Charlton Road and subsequently using her credit cards. According to WWLP, the theft at the Southern-comfort chain was reported to Sturbridge Police around 12:53 PM this past Thursday.
Sources say the woman noticed the theft from her purse by folks seated behind her at the eatery. On receipt an alert on her smartphone of illicit card activity at a Walmart not far off, the police closed in on a suspect vehicle. A sharp-eyed officer, parked in the vicinity, spotted an auto leaving Hobbs Brook Plaza, its plate craftily obscured with wet paper towels, commandeered by individuals matching the broadcasted suspects descriptions.
Sturbridge Police Department sprang into action following a 911 call from the victim. Surveillance footage from the setting of down-home Americana fueled their pursuit. As reported by Quiet Corner Alerts, during a subsequent traffic stop, the men were found in possession of the stolen wallet, along with a slew of gift cards.
The trio in cuffs includes a 23-year-old from Virginia, and two New Yorkers, aged 31 and 47. The young Virginian is also facing bonus charges—a double-edged knife adding a dangerous edge to the incident, and the concealment of a vehicle's true identity. All men are slapped with accusations of larceny, receiving stolen property, conspiracy, and credit card misuse.
