Early Saturday morning, a pursuit unfolded as San Bruno Police Department officers pursued a stolen vehicle, barreling south towards neighboring San Mateo. The San Mateo Police Department confirmed that the chase wound through various thoroughfares, including Interstate 280, State Route 92, and U.S. Route 101, as officers worked to apprehend the suspects.
The chase concluded when the driver, desperately trying to shake off pursuit, crashed into a fence and brush area at a local train station, according to the San Mateo Police Department's Facebook page. In an attempt to quickly escape on foot, all occupants fled the disabled vehicle. However, their flight was short-lived.
A spokesperson from the San Mateo Police Department said, "After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to locate and arrest 3 subjects." The apprehension was made smoother by the collaboration of different law enforcement agencies, including the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
San Bruno PD arrived on scene to take custody of the suspects, rounding off an operation marked by inter-agency cooperation. The incident, which luckily resulted in no injuries, highlighted the effectiveness of seamless communication between the involved parties. "Constant communication led to the locate and arrest of these car thieves," the department remarked.
