
Tragedy struck Monday afternoon when a devastating single-car accident on southbound Interstate 680 near Pleasanton claimed the lives of two adults and left six others, including two children, injured, according to the Alameda County Fire Department. Emergency personnel rushed to the Sunol Boulevard/Castlewood Drive exit after the vehicle, carrying eight passengers, plummeted over a 20-foot embankment around 2:36 p.m., the fire department reported.

The occupants of the ill-fated car comprised six adults and two children. The vehicle was reported to have lost control, resulting in it falling down the steep embankment, leading to on-site fatalities for two of the adults while the others suffered varying injuries; two of the children had minor injuries. According to an ACFD spokesperson, the rescue teams found the vehicle in a dire state upon arrival, sparking immediate response efforts to assist the crash victims.
