Violence erupted on San Antonio's West Side Wednesday night, resulting in two hospitalizations after separate but related shooting incidents. According to KSAT, the initial altercation took place around 9:30 p.m. on the 700 block of Leal Street. A white car reportedly advanced upon a group, with its occupant firing shots that struck a 25-year-old man under his right armpit.
Despite sustaining life-threatening injuries, the victim managed to return fire. He was later transported to the hospital in critical condition, leaving the scene marked by the urgency of survival and the cold reality of violence on our streets. In a rapid twist of fate, the suspected shooter found themselves in need of medical assistance shortly after the first event.
By approximately 9:45 p.m., the suspected shooter called for help from the 900 block of Myrtle Street, less than three miles from the original site. As reported by Fox San Antonio, police arriving at the second location discovered the individual with a gunshot wound to the leg, confirming the connection between the two incidents. The suspect was then taken to the hospital, with the condition at the time remaining undisclosed.
While these two incidents kept San Antonio police busy on Wednesday night, a third call concerning a shooting came within a tense 10-minute window. However, the authorities have not confirmed whether the third incident is intertwined with the initial drive-by and the subsequent retaliation that put both the alleged perpetrator and the earlier victim in the same stark domain of hospital beds and police inquiries. No other injuries have been reported in connection with these incidents as the investigation continues.
