A brutal stabbing at a Big Bear Lake bar has led to the arrest of two men from Whittier and Sylmar. Authorities detained 39-year-old Joshua Alvarado and 56-year-old Michael Alvarado following an investigation into the December 10 incident at AV Bar and Nightclub.
The violent confrontation began with a verbal spat and swiftly escalated when Joshua Alvarado allegedly went to retrieve a knife from his vehicle, only to quickly come back and stab the male victim. In the chaos, a 17-year-old bystander was also stabbed. Both victims required helicopter transport to Loma Linda University Medical Center for emergency care. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, this was a clear case of attempted murder that demanded swift action to quickly bring the suspects to justice.
In a statement acquired by the authorities, subsequent investigations led to the identity of Joshua and Michael Alvarado. With the help of the Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) and Detective Bureau, officials served four search warrants in Los Angeles County, successfully locating and detaining the suspects in the process.
The arrests on December 21 yielded further incriminatory evidence, with deputies seizing multiple firearms illegally possessed by Michael Alvarado, a convicted felon. They also secured clothing linked to the crime. Joshua Alvarado now faces attempted murder charges and is being held on $1,000,000 bail. His accomplice, charged with conspiracy and gun possession violations, remains in custody on a $30,000 bail. They are both expected to appear before the court on December 26, according to the department.
