
Early this morning, chaos unfolded on Cedar Avenue as a man was confronted by an armed assailant intent on robbery. According to the Long Beach Police Department, at around 6:31 a.m., officers rushed to the 1300 block of Cedar Avenue, where they found evidence of gunfire.
The victim, reported as an adult male, was outside when another male adult wielding a gun approached and demanded his possessions. The details remain scarce at this moment, but it's understood that after the confrontation, the victim managed to flee, hearing the sound of a gunshot behind him. Fortunately, while the suspect made his way away, the gunshot did not wound up striking the victim.
The suspect is currently at large, having escaped in a vehicle prior to police arrival. The Long Beach Police Department continues to investigate, piecing together suspect information from the scant eyewitness accounts and the forensic evidence left behind on the scene.
No injuries were reported in the incident, a rare piece of good news in what could have easily been a deadly altercation. As detectives scour for leads, they assure the public that every resource is being deployed to bring the perpetrator to justice.
