Washington County is reaching out to locals willing to open their hearts and homes to children in need. An online informational meeting is set for January 11 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. via Teams presentation for the community members interested in becoming licensed foster care providers. To get into the virtual learn-and-greet, folks are needed to RSVP by January 10—a day before.
Washington County officials said there's no cost kicking off the licensing process for the do-gooders stepping up. Potential foster care providers can explore various options, such as temporary fostering for children in transition, looking after teens who need guidance and support, and participating in a respite program designed to offer relief to families caring for kids and teenagers with disabilities over a weekend or a few days.
The mission is clear—foster parents must create a stable, loving family environment in their sufficiently spaced homes. But before putting a roof over a kid's head, these prospective guardians will have to pass a deep-dive background check.
Interested families should dial 651-430-8307 or send an email to [email protected]. More details and RSVP info can be accessed on the Washington County website.
