
Early morning violence erupted in Southwest Atlanta on Saturday when a woman was shot in the leg on a city street, according to the Atlanta Police Department. The incident occurred near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. SW and Peyton Pl SW.
The victim was found with a gunshot wound to her lower leg at approximately 5:50 a.m. at 2911 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway. Despite her injury, she was able to communicate with first responders, described as alert, conscious, and breathing. The unnamed woman was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Atlanta police are actively investigating the shooting as details regarding the motive and perpetrator remain unclear.
Currently, no arrests have been made in connection with the assault, and investigators are urging anyone who may have information about the shooting to come forward. The shooting adds to a string of violent episodes that have been reported in the same vicinity over recent months, raising concerns about ongoing safety issues in the neighborhood.
