A tragic event unfolded in Itasca County over the weekend when a vehicle veered off the road, leading to one dead and another critically injured. A report from the Minnesota State Patrol confirmed that the Ford Expedition, driven by a 32-year-old Michigan woman, was northbound on Highway 46 when the SUV ominously left the roadway around 5:35 a.m. Saturday and descended into chaos.

The vehicle, confronting a driveway approach, became airborne and brutally collided with multiple trees. According to KSTP, Bryan William Cicinelli, 37, of Michigan was a passenger in the SUV and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The woman was subsequently rushed to St. Mary’s Duluth, fighting for her life with injuries deemed life-threatening.

Officials confirmed that no other vehicles were implicated in the devastating incident that took place some 57 miles northwest of Grand Rapids. The remote stretch of Highway 46 in Ardenhurst Township became a grim site of yet another testament to the perils of the road.

The State Patrol disclosed that during the time of the crash, at least one occupant was not restrained by a seatbelt, and although it is still early in the investigation, alcohol does not appear to have been a contributing factor, Bring Me The News noted.
