Early Friday morning, in what police suspect was a road rage incident turned violent, three men were shot and wounded outside a 7-Eleven in Northridge, Los Angeles with two victims now locked in a fight for their lives in critical condition, as per authorities quoted by CBS News.
According to the KTLA report, the shooting erupted after 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Corbin Avenue and Parthenia Street; officers arriving on the scene discovered a minivan peppered with bullets, with three men inside, they each had suffered gunshot wounds, the driver hit in the back, another in the leg, and the third in the arm, police were sent to the location shortly after the incident occurred.
The Los Angeles Police Department is scouring the area for clues, but details on the suspects are nearly nonexistent, authorities acknowledging the men who were shot have been less than forthcoming with information, which complicates their investigation—making it difficult to ascertain whether the altercation was a result of road rage, or if there's a deeper thread of gang rivalry at play here, as reported by KTLA.
Investigators were led to believe the violence unfolded after a confrontation on Parthenia Street, prior to the victims driving their wounded bodies to the convenience store parking lot, the only detail law enforcement has been able to share about the perpetrator is an ill-defined description of a male and a fleeting image of a red car that may have been involved; and though the LAPD has canvassed the vicinity, the suspects have evaded their dragnet, their descriptions remain vague, frustratingly out of reach for a city all too familiar with nights punctuated by the crack of gunfire, as documented by CBS News.
