
Authorities said a murder suspect in Amarillo led a chase before taking his own life on earlier today.
After a shooting left one man dead at Sam Houston Park, police responded yesterday, at around 8 p.m, where 20-year-old John Edward Red was found with gunshot wounds he was subsequently taken to a local hospital and he later died from his injuries, this information was first reported by KFDA.
The Amarillo Police Department, moving quickly to apprehend the culprit, acquired a murder warrant for 18-year-old Jhequaylen Elija Badillo who was also on probation for aggravated assault since March 2023 after pleading guilty, as reported by Fox San Antonio.
Under the cover of early morning, police surveillance had Badillo in sight at a Hillcrest residence when the suspect bolted from the property triggering a police pursuit, he ran between houses on Wolflin Street near Western Street and was there found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, this less-than-fortunate turn of events was disclosed in reports by both media outlets.
Currently, the Amarillo police's Homicide Unit is proceeding with the investigation into the chain of events that led to this tragic outcome.
