A 57-year-old man is behind bars following a DUI accident that left a young pedestrian injured earlier this month in Apple Valley, per the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's Department. The crash occurred on the 14100 block of Pawnee Road at around 6:00 pm on January 6th, authorities say.
Anthony Tyrone Davis of Apple Valley was identified by the police as the driver of the vehicle, he crashed into the 24-year-old male victim from Pomona, and the victim was promptly whisked away to St. Mary’s Medical Center to receive medical attention for his injuries; details of his condition have not been disclosed. According to the official press release, Deputy K. Mullins conducted the investigation and subsequently arrested Davis on suspicion of driving under the influence causing bodily injury with a bail set at a hefty $250,000.
The Victorville District Attorney's Office did not take long to slap the suspect with felony charges including driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury and driving with a blood-alcohol content of .08% causing injury, coupled with a misdemeanor for driving after a license suspension due to a previous DUI conviction. This unfortunate incident continues to highlight the perilous mix of alcohol and asphalt.
