Herbert Williams, a 78-year-old businessman was tragically killed when a tree fell onto his car during a severe storm in Clayton County. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning on Highway 54 near Jeni Lane, according to Hoodline. Williams was reportedly driving to his car stereo shop when the tree, uprooted by high winds, crashed into his sedan, causing fatal injuries.
Williams, who owned Sound Decisionz car stereo shop, is remembered as an integral part of his local community. A makeshift memorial has been placed where the tree fell, and his grandson is expected to continue the family business. "What drove him was not only working, being an entrepreneur, [it] was his family. [It] was taking care of his family. That was one of the biggest things," said Diashawn Williams, Herbert's son. "That's what he instilled in … all the men in the family … Be able to take care of your family." Diashawn Williams, Herbert's son, told FOX 5 Atlanta in a recent interview. The unexpected tragedy struck just a week before Williams would have celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary.
Services were held this Sunday in Riverdale, where family and friends gathered to say their goodbyes. According to statements made to FOX 5 Atlanta, Williams was a dedicated family man and entrepreneur who immensely valued taking care of his loved ones.
The aftermath of the storm in Metro Atlanta is still being dealt with by local authorities and clean-up crews who are working to restore order. Remembered by his son as a "great man,"."He always taught love, especially for family. He always was just making sure from his grandkids to his kids, that he always embraced that role of supporting your family," Diashawn remarked to Hoodline.
