An intense standoff in northeast Atlanta ended without bloodshed when police arrested a man accused of holding the mother of his child and the child hostage. The crisis unfolded at an apartment on Piedmont Avenue on Friday night, as confirmed by Atlanta police.
The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Andre Ross, is charged with false imprisonment, and it has come to light that he was also wanted on several serious felony warrants, including armed robbery and weapons charges. In a desperate signal for rescue, the woman, initially appearing uncooperative to police presence, silently mouthed "help me," prompting immediate action, Atlanta News First reported.
Ross was booked into Fulton County Jail on Saturday following the ordeal and faces additional charges out of Douglas and DeKalb counties. The standoff began around 10 p.m. on Friday after police received reports of a domestic dispute. Upon their arrival, they encountered the woman who, while verbally uncooperative, discreetly signaled officers that she needed help, according to Atlanta News First.
