The city of Atlanta is in the grips of mystery following the shocking discovery of a young woman's body near a local park. Early Saturday morning, the deceased was found lying in the vicinity of the 3600 block of Collier Road, NW Atlanta, just by Collier Park. Atlanta's law enforcement is scouring the area for any evidence.
Identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner, the woman was Ashley Chappell, age 30. Details surrounding her death remain nebulous, her life cut short in unknown circumstances, as reported by FOX5 Atlanta.
Officers on patrol discovered Ms. Chappell in the early hours, by the park's entrance. Upon their arrival, attempts at aid were futile, with no pulse to be found, leading to the declaration of her death at the scene. "Minimal signs of trauma," commented the APD's homicide commander Lt. Germaine Dearlove in a statement gathered by Atlanta News First. Suggestions have been made that her injuries could be consistent with a fall, but clarity eludes as they await definitive answers from the Medical Examiner.
Many gathered for solace and remembrance in the nearby residence of her mother, Enrika Matthews. Chappell has been remembered as "the life of the party" and a dedicated mother, leaving behind a palpable void within her tight-knit family and friends. "She never said anything, like, 'I'm in danger. I need to come home.' Nothing like that," Mrs. Matthews disclosed to Atlanta News First.
