Despite having dropped the customary Peach Drop, Atlanta still managed to draw in a festive crowd to greet 2024 with the launch of a fresh celebration, the Atlanta Peach Fest. This inaugural event, held at Underground Atlanta, was set ablaze with energy as more than 2,000 revelers descended into The Gallery event hall for an indoor bash boasting everything from several DJs spinning the decks to lively carnival games, a spread of food, and a roster of vendors, as FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

Characterized by York Promotions, the party planners did not let the city's abrupt decision to cancel the traditional Peach Drop dissuade their vigor. According to a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta, event organizer Ais York described their initial plan,"At first, we said, 'Let's save the Peach Drop.' That was the first attempt that we attempted. We didn't have enough time, so we had to pivot and create something a little bit different – a lot smaller, smaller footprint – but something to give the people who still need it that beacon of hope, something to do for New Year’s Eve,"

Despite the event's charge for entry, contrasting the typically gratis Peach Drop. York expressed a desire to resurrect the iconic event for the next year. "So, next year we're going to get in front of it early. So starting, probably in two weeks after we all take a break, we want to start planning for next year,"  York explained.

Meanwhile, the organizers behind the fest prepared diligently, with York Promotions putting safety first as they hired a robust security detail, including off-duty officers. Citing the need to be ready regardless of the festive curveballs, Marshetta English from Lustful Lemonade relayed to WSB-TV, “The thing about it when it comes to holidays is you have to be prepared because sometimes shows get canceled and some shows come last minute so as a business owner you still have to have everything stocked,”
