A 44-year-old woman was severely injured after being stabbed in the neck during what the Atlanta police described as a domestic dispute. The incident took place around 1 a.m. at an apartment complex on Bishop Street, in northwest Atlanta, as FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
Following a heated argument with her boyfriend, the dispute escalated resulting, in the woman sustaining a stab wound. The boyfriend, who the police have identified as the suspect, fled the scene before authorities arrived, leaving the victim severely wounded. She was later transported to Grady Memorial Hospital and is reportedly stable after undergoing surgery, as stated by Atlanta News First.
Attempts to locate the assailant are ongoing as law enforcement urges the public to provide any information that might lead to his capture. The suspect's escape from the crime scene was swift, and he remained at large as police arrived.
This recent stabbing isn't the first violent incident to shake the Midtown apartment complex. In July 2023, the Mark at West Midtown was the crime scene of another grave incident when a woman was found dead in the parking garage with a gunshot wound. The recurrence of violence has cast a shadow over the community, a concern that residents and authorities must grapple with.
As the investigation progresses, the Atlanta police have articulated their intention to release warrants for the suspect’s arrest. They, along with the victim who is fortunate to be on the mend, await justice in the wings of the aftermath of these events.
