Tensions are high in an Austin neighborhood following the tragic death of 14-year-old Treyshur Carter, who died due to injuries sustained in a hit-and-run incident while riding her scooter on Farmhaven Road. Residents have expressed concerns about the safety of their streets, citing instances of speeding and reckless driving in the area, according to KXAN.

Nichole Kuck, a resident, voiced her fears, "It's terrifying! I almost get run over all the time." Kuck's apprehension is shared by many in the community, including the Home Owners' Association, which has urged residents to report safety issues to the city. The neighborhood, marred by the recent fatality, highlights an unsettling trend of dangerous road conditions, as earlier, another driver destroyed a brick wall sign in a similar reckless act, reported by KXAN.

Austin Police report that Carter succumbed to her injuries, including a broken femur and a fractured neck, on January 5th after being taken to a hospital following the December 30th accident. Emani Carter, the victim's sister, expressed the family's distress, revealing that they felt compelled to collect evidence themselves in the hope of finding the perpetrator, as per FOX 7 Austin.

In the wake of this and other traffic-related deaths, AAA emphasizes the importance of driver awareness and adherence to legal responsibilities after accidents. "It is the law. You have to report the crash and provide your information," said Daniel Armbruster, spokesperson for AAA. The grief-stricken sister of Carter lastly implored, "It would just ease our hearts to know that you would come forward and take responsibility for what you did because you hit a baby. She still has her whole life ahead of her," as stated in FOX 7 Austin.
