An investigation is currently underway by the Austin Police Department as a man was found shot dead in a North Austin apartment complex on Friday night in what police are calling a homicide. According to CBS Austin, the shooting occurred in the 800 block of East Braker Lane near North Interstate 35, and police were on the scene at around 7:55 p.m. following reports of gunfire.
Responding officers discovered a young man with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle, and efforts were promptly made to provide medical assistance until emergency medical services arrived. Austin-Travis County EMS then rushed the victim to Dell Seton Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. During a media briefing, police mentioned that the victim had been in the car with several individuals who are now cooperating with the investigation. The Austin Police Department has stressed there's no ongoing threat to the public as they consider the incident isolated.
Meanwhile, KXAN has relayed information that the Austin Police Department made an announcement on social media regarding the incident and conducted a detailed media briefing concerning the homicide shortly before 9:00 p.m. The briefing will take place in the parking lot of Northern Tool + Equipment, which is situated at 804 E. Braker Ln, not far from the scene of the crime.
