
The Austin Police Department is on the hunt for a man they say robbed at gunpoint a local taco truck in the dead of night. In their call to the public issued on Monday, APD shared details of the distressing episode that happened at the Matamoros taco truck, settled on the side of the N IH 35 service road, just after midnight on January 6.
Cameras caught the suspect who is still at large, the authorities described him as a Hispanic male, estimated to be between 20 to 25 years of age, approximately 5’ 8” tall, weighing around 180 lbs., with a medium build and a tongue fluent in Spanish, according to APD's report the suspect, brandishing a black handgun, terrorized two employees during the incident, where he didn't hesitate to fire a shot, which fortunately didn't hit anyone, before fleeing the scene on foot, leaving behind only the echo of the gunshot and the fear it inspired, according to the Austin Police Department.
An image and a description of the wanted man have been circulated by law enforcement in hopes that someone in the community will recognize him and come forward. He was reported to have been wearing what could be a distinctive orange or peach colored sweatshirt marked with the words “DESTIN Florida” with white lettering, his denim black, embellished with either a design or signs of wear along the sides, his face obscured by a blue-green and gray shirt twisted into a makeshift mask, the shoes on his feet a blend of red and black, as per the Austin Police Department.
