The Big Apple isn't the only place with sticky fingers. Austin Police Department (APD) is on the lookout for a suspect tied to a shoplifting incident at Sprouts on Barbara Jordan Boulevard. The theft took place on the second of January, but the perp is still at large. The male suspect was caught on camera swiping goods and skipping the checkout line before making his getaway.
Descriptions of the suspect have circulated in a public release, detailing a Middle Eastern man in his mid-30s with a thin build. His wardrobe choice during the heist: a Buck's jersey beneath his jacket. Last seen, the suspect may have been in the IH 35 and Rundberg area, fitting a profile that local shoppers might recognize, according to the Austin Police Department.
APD isn't just after the man who did the lifting, though. There's also the matter of the getaway car, a silver 2005 Honda Accord. The alleged accomplice behind the wheel allowed the prime suspect to flee the scene. It wasn't a high-speed chase but a quiet exit, the two men disappearing into the Texas streets as anonymously as they had arrived, as per the Austin Police Department.
Officials are urging anyone with a lead to step forward. Information can be handed over to the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program, anonymously if preferred. The community can chime in by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. The hope is that with public cooperation, APD will close the case quickly, and justice, will be served.
