To prepare the next generation for a world steeped in debt, Austin has become a breeding ground for financial gurus in the making. Highlighting this trend, 12-year-old Eli Dries from Hill Country Middle School has been named the "Best of the Best" in Texas for his money management skills, as reported by KXAN.

Having racked up over $1 trillion in credit card debt according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Americans are increasingly realizing the importance of teaching kids like Eli how to handle finances. Known for selling stocks from top-tier companies, Young Dries has become quite the phenomenon. "Pretty happy that they recognized the work I'm doing and excited that I won the prize," he said, as per KXAN.

Putting this knowledge into practice links to an early start on the path to financial independence, a sentiment echoed by Hargrove, "If I can give them that information early, then they're going to have a better start at life than I did, for sure," he said in a statement obtained by KVUE.

Not everyone has the opportunity to be talked about in life by those who've already walked the path, Hargrove points out. High school seniors Joe Pertolanitz and Chris Leon are among the Texas teens getting a crash course in cash. For them, the lessons present a golden opportunity to plan for the future. "Because not everyone has the opportunity to be talked about stuff in life from people who have already been through it," Chris Leon said, according to KVUE.
