The hunt is on for clues after a 26-year-old woman was fatally struck in a collision in Mission Viejo, as the Orange County Sheriff's Department turns to the public for help. The tragic incident occurred on the evening of January 5, around 10:30 p.m., cutting short a life at the intersection of Alicia Parkway and Jeronimo Road, the OCSD reports.

Responding to a call about a traffic collision involving two vehicles, deputies arrived at a harrowing scene where the victim was found near one of the automobiles involved. Despite prompt response from Orange County Fire Authority, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say that neither of the drivers, who cooperated with law enforcement by staying after the accident, seemed to be under the influence of alcohol, or narcotics.

In a continued quest for answers, the Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) has taken the lead on the probe. At this juncture, no arrests have been made, and investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department is urging witnesses or those with any knowledge of the incident to contact them at 949-425-1887 or 949-425-1860.
