The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is actively seeking the public's assistance in locating Joe Hopkins, a 74-year-old man who has gone missing from Far North Bexar County. Hopkins was last seen early Wednesday morning leaving a residence on Penstemon Trail. Concerns are heightened due to the man's medical condition, which necessitates regular medication.
A Silver Alert has also been issued for Hopkins, who is described as standing 6 feet tall, weighing around 210 pounds, with white hair and blue eyes. According to FOX San Antonio, Hopkins was last seen wearing a tan jacket, a gray shirt with "Paw-Paw" written on it, a brown belt, blue jeans, and black house shoes. He notably left the area in his red 2015 Lexus ES3, a four-door sedan, with Texas license plate GBM5981.
The vehicle was later reported to be seen traveling northwest on I-10 in Comfort, increasing the urgency of the search. As the hours wane since his last sighting, the Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone who might to catch a glimpse of Hopkins or his distinct red Lexus to promptly get in contact with law enforcement.
Officials highlight the critical nature of the situation, emphasizing the importance for Hopkins to quickly be found so as to ensure he receives the medication he relies upon. "He has a medical condition that requires medicine," deputies told KENS 5. The community’s help is described as crucial in the effort to swiftly ensure his safe return.
