Tragedy struck early Tuesday when a pedestrian was fatally hit by a motorist in the northern suburb of Blaine, with authorities reporting the incident and confirming the victim's identity as 42-year-old James Sachs of Blaine. FOX9 indicated that law enforcement responded to reports of a man lying in the road at the intersection of 109th Avenue Northeast and Central Avenue Northeast.
The grim discovery was made after emergency personnel rushed to the scene around 4:30 a.m. following reports of a potential collision, finding Sachs injured and later pronounced dead without the prospect of being transported to the hospital. According to a CBS News Minnesota account details from first responders; the driver suspected of the fatal strike was located soon after the accident. Emergency personnel tried life-saving maneuvers, however, the man succumbed to his injuries right there on the asphalt, draped in the early morning hush.
The vehicle contentedly involved was earmarked by officials after a 911 caller reported their vehicle may have hit someone already lying on the road — this according to officials who are not treating the tragic, fatal incident as a hit-and-run situation. The name of the driver has yet to be released, but they are said to be cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
