UPDATE: A weeks-long search for a missing Crestline man has come to a tragic end as authorities discovered his body in a remote forested area, officials confirmed.
Following a missing person report for 55-year-old Christian Alan Petrie who had not been seen since January 14, deputies from the Twin Peaks Station initiated a search effort; Petrie's family, having lost communication with him, were fraught with worry and the silence stretching from the day of his last sighting to the chilling discovery was punctuated only by the buzz of search crews combing the vicinity of Mormon Road and State Highway 138, according to details provided by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.
The search culminated on January 23 when, at approximately 1:27 p.m., a Sheriff's Search and Rescue crew found Petrie deceased, the announcement of which was made in a statement released by Shannon D. Dicus, Sheriff-Coroner of San Bernardino County. His remains were subsequently airlifted from the scene and transported to the Coroner’s Office, where an autopsy is expected to reveal the cause of death.
The Twin Peaks Station is calling upon the public for any information that may shed light on the circumstances leading to Petrie's demise; as this somber tale unfolds, those looking to contribute facts or who seek to remain nameless can relay their messages through the We-Tip hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463) or via their website, adding to the fragments and whispers that law enforcement gather in hopes of piecing together the map of Petrie's final days.
Deputy Romero Rios has been cited as the point of contact for this case, and individuals with relevant information are encouraged to reach out to the Twin Peaks Station directly at 909-336-0600, about Case No. 052400097.
