Chaos erupted at several state capitol buildings on Wednesday when a series of bomb threats sparked evacuations and lockdowns, disrupting government workings, including at the Minnesota State Capitol. An email containing a bomb threat was received around 9 a.m., prompting the swift action of the Minnesota State Patrol Capitol Security, according to Fox9.
Minnesota wasn't alone in this disturbance, as buildings in Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Georgia, Kentucky, and Montana also faced evacuations. While Wyoming, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri, and Maryland received threats, in a report by The Associated Press, their buildings remained open even as fear permeated the offices and hallways.
The Minnesota Supreme Court engulfed in oral arguments, found their session halted by the threat. Justices were relocated across the street to the Judicial Center to resume proceedings, signaling the depth of the disruption. After thorough searches by law enforcement and an explosives-detecting K9, no suspicious items were uncovered, as per Fox9.
