Boston's weather is keeping the city on its toes with varying forecasts promising a mix of sun, snow, and breezy conditions. Today, the city is expecting partly sunny skies with temperatures climbing near 59, according to the National Weather Service. However, commuters are advised to bundle up tonight as temperatures are expected to take a dive down to around 31 with stiff winds blowing in.
Massachusetts had its morning routine disrupted by snow which will linger into the afternoon, with some areas just getting enough to cause slippery roads, reported CBS News Boston. A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. As the storm intensifies, Bostonians will see light to moderate snow later in the morning, which is expected to turn into steadier showers towards midday. Adding to the challenge are gusty winds reaching 20-to-30 mph, which may hinder visibility.
With an updated forecast for snow likely on Tuesday afternoon, Bostonians should prepare for accumulations that vary widely across the region. "One-to-3 inches inland in Plymouth County up through Boston and Cape Ann," and potentially 2-to-5 inches west of Interstate 95, are anticipated according to CBS News Boston. Meanwhile, Cape Cod and the surrounding islands may see little to no accumulation. Conditions will improve overnight as the blustery weather eases up, setting the stage for a sunny but chilly Martin Luther King Day.
The rest of the week keeps winter’s unpredictability at the forefront, with Tuesday night expected to bring more snow over Massachusetts. This round of flurries is part of a system that's expected to continue its performance through Wednesday with mostly sunny skies, diving temperatures at night to around 19 degrees, and the stage set for yet another act by another storm on Friday, which seems to promise a dusting more than a deluge, per CBS News Boston.
