In what the authorities are calling a significant crackdown on drug and gun trafficking, two Boston men are behind bars after police found a stash house packed with an arsenal of weapons and a large quantity of drugs. Luis Perez-Pena, 30, and Elvin Pena-Cabrera, 28, are now facing a series of gun and drug trafficking charges, as announced by the Suffolk District Attorney's Office.

During a raid on a Milton Avenue home, Boston Police, alongside FBI agents, unearthed eight firearms including a Glock P80, a silver Colt Python revolver, and a Ruger .22 caliber assault rifle equipped with a Bushnell Scope. The sweep also netted 1,609 grams of Fentanyl, 958 grams of black tar heroin, and over two kilograms of cocaine, in a move hailed by law enforcement as a major victory for community safety. According to the Suffolk District Attorney's Office, the suspects have been slapped with eight counts of illegal possession of a firearm, three counts of possession of a large capacity feeding device, and other related charges.

Authorities kept a vigilant eye on the residence, spotting suspicious activity that suggested drug transactions were underway. With evidence in hand, they proceeded to execute a search warrant in the evening of January 5, leading to the discovery of the illegal inventory. "This is an operation that very clearly illuminates the basic and constant connection between illegal guns and illegal drugs in our neighborhoods," disclosed District Attorney Kevin Hayden.

Both Perez-Pena and Pena-Cabrera were arraigned in Dorchester BMC where Judge Lisa Ann Grant set bail at $75,000 for Perez-Pena and $25,000 for Pena-Cabrera. They are expected to return to court on February 9 for probable cause hearings. "In this case there are large—and potentially deadly—amounts of both," Hayden expressed about the seized guns and drugs. "This operation began as a drug investigation and it certainly ended up taking a lot of dangerous drugs off our streets. It also took a lot of illegal firepower out of our neighborhoods. For that we’re all safer, and for that I’m extremely grateful," Hayden said in a statement.
