The Boston Fire Department swiftly declared a 2nd alarm and ordered an evacuation, responding to the incident that conjured visions of flames and chaos in the Back Bay neighborhood.

The explosion occurred in the rear of the Lenox, generating an amount of smoke that authorities deemed dangerous; firefighters worked diligently to contain the situation and investigate the cause, which has yet to be fully determined, however, they moved quickly to clear the area and ensure public safety no one was hurt in the incident the hotel guests and staff member followed evacuation procedures calmly as reported by the department's official X account.
According to a post from the Boston Fire, "Companies ordered a 2nd alarm to evacuate the Lenox hotel, as a result of a transformer explosion in the rear of the hotel causing excessive smoke through the building." The department shared images of firefighters on the scene, battling the smoky conditions to control further risks.
